90s television

90s television to me was easily the best television that we have watched. 90s comedy shows such as The Simpsons and Seinfeld are television shows that I truly enjoy. Many of the opinions and political views are shot at very subtly but extremely well done. Seinfeld was so funny to me because of the sense of humor that Jerry Seinfeld displayed throughout the show as well as a hilarious cast to go along with him. Seinfeld was hilarious because of reappearing characters such as Newman and Elaine numerous peculiar boyfriends. Also the daily struggle of George Costanaza never fails to make me laugh. I did enjoy the fresh prince of bel air as well and I think it was to represent the teenage culture of America in the 90s. I believe that television during the 90s was mostly leaning towards comedy because that was what viewers were watching everyday so more and more comedy shows were created such as Feaks and Geeks, friends etc. The 90s was a great time for television, with some really great shows coming out which represented America in a whole different amount of ways.

90s Movies

Overall I can say that I was a fan of movies from the 90s. We watched all varying range of movies, some being entertaining and others being kind of superficial. Clueless was extremely superficial and I believe it did a good job representing the rich american teenager from the 90s. I was not a huge fan of forest gump, but I can understand why people would enjoy it. Forrest Gump practically screams America and every way due to Forrest's numerous adventures and his journey for the pursuit of happiness. The movies of the 90s that we saw had an upbeat sense to them as opposed to some of the previous films from the 70s and 80s such as apocalypse now. The movies of the time reflected a culture of happy Americans being a superpower and the movies seemed to be very pro american. Titanic as well I enjoyed not only because of the groundbreaking CGI but the story behind it. America became attached to the film because it had to do with America for the destination of the titanic being America. The romance in it was also what Americans wanted so Titanic was a huge success in the box office. Overall I was impressed with movies of the 90s and they were a breath of fresh air for viewers considering the new upgrades in technology.

90s Music

Overall I was a fan of 90s music. With the introduction of alternative and grunge rock such as R.E.M and Nirvana it was a nice change from the poppy 80s of Prince and MJ. Although I never have been a fan of country and the exploding country fans really was not appealing to me because I do not understand what is so amazing about country music. I do particularly enjoy hip hop/rap and the 90s was a big time for it. Debut albums such as Illmatic by Nas and Reasonable Doubt by Jay Z came out in the 90s and are some of my favorite rap albums if all time. The west coast hip as well was a particularly large part of hip hop in America with rapper Dr. Dre and Tupac leading the west coast. Nirvana with the abrasive album "In Utero" was a huge part of the grunge success in America. Overall the 90s music was a time of grunge rock and gangsta rap music, and both these genres I particularly enjoyed listening to.

Music has drastically changed from he 60s to he 90s. The music of the sixties was often lead by a guitar with simple melodies and corny and cheesy lyrics. Then moving into the seventies the electric guitar and that extended into the 80s. I believe as technology advanced so did the music and this was due to the fact that of music like gangsta rap and techno. The music of rap and techno do not really have instruments as much as loops and technology integrated into the music. The music has changed drastically from the 60s and I believe that this was due to technology because it gave a chance for artists to be more creative and expand ideas into another level that they could not have done before.

Thoughts on Bill Clinton

After reading the numerous articles on Bill Clinton I have came to reflect my thoughts on Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton was a good president. Clinton pushed for equality among the gays in the military with the "don't ask don't tell". Clinton pushed for equality among the citizens. Although the affair with Ms. Lewinsky may have tainted my views on Clinton, I put that aside and looked at what he did for the country. Although he did let his personal views such as appointing his wife to the task force for the health care reform act. Although many republicans preached to impeach Clinton, few of the votes in the first stage of impeachment actually sent to vote him out. Clinton also put women in important posts throughout the areas if his administration. Clinton really focused on the economic needs of the nation reguarding health care reform, welfare and unemployment. I believe that too many republicans try to write Clinton off because of personal mistakes but I believe that is rather irrelevant when looking at the nation as a whole. Clinton stimulated the economy and the fact that his second term after all the affairs was even better than his first really surprised me and shows how eager he was to bounce back.
