Lets Define

I believe that pop culture is many different things, but mostly it is what is trending at a certain time point. There are different sides of pop culture some being music others being fashion. For example the picture below is an example of pop culture, with nick cage growing a mustache other men may find it cool and grow one as well. Or if a famous actress is wearing a certain brand, others will follow and buy that brand. I believe pop culture and advertisement go hand in hand because advertisement takes advantage of pop culture to push their product out on the public by endorsing celebrities and athletes to wear their product.

  1. we should just be clear: Nick Cage isn't cool. 'stache or no 'stache... not cool...But your point is a good one; Pop culture is, by and large, defined by famous people and their tastes and actions. Still, there are some trends that come about through non-famous, mass acceptance. Vans shoes are a good example of that...
